Kylie A. Braegelmann awarded ideas & more Young Researcher Paper Award 2021 [24.06.21]
In the paper "Gender Matters: market perception of future performance" (https://doi.org/10.1108/MF-02-2019-0055), which comprises her first dissertation project, Kylie A. Braegelmann performed an interdisciplinary analysis of gender bias in financial markets. Together with her co-author (Nacasius U. Ujah), she developed a unifying framework using theories from sociology, social psychology, and finance. She applied this framework to an event study design and investigated how the gender of newly appointed CEOs influences investor perception of future company performance. The results suggest that gender bias exists in financial markets and that there are gender-specific market reactions to new CEO announcements.
